“Saying No with Confidence:
A Mark of Integrity”
March Madness is upon us. Now that you are doing bridal alterations, you know what March Madness really means. Brides are plentiful and work can become overwhelming. It’s very easy to become overbooked in March. And if you service prom dresses, that piles on top of bridal too.
Keep your composure and learn to say no. Also, be sure to leave some “time cushion” in your schedule. This can save your sanity.
When you take on a bridal gown job, you are committing to do the work to the best of your abilities. Each new dress you agree to do needs to be carefully considered. Make sure you have the amount of time available that it will take to not only complete the dress, but also have the time to do your best work on it.

“Integrity Means Knowing When to Say No“
It’s tempting to take on more work than we can handle for a variety of reasons.
- We need more money
- The bride seems desperate
- The job looks easier than it really is
- We are people pleasers
But over booking can cause us to put out less quality of work as we rush through the dresses. We also make poor decisions when we are sleep deprived or we are in too big of a hurry.
Trust me, bad things can happen!
Here is training video about this subject.
I hope you find it entertaining and insightful into the role integrity plays in our work commitments.

Here is a great strategy
This works for most situations, but not all. It’s great for when you have a financial squeeze and could use more income.
First, work as hard as you can early in the morning and all thru the day, every day until you are able to get all the work done beautifully that you have already committed to do.
After that work is done, then you can take on one or two rush jobs. These rush jobs should have a rush fee added to the work. So you actually are making more money per hour and are keeping your integrity with all the clients.
I’m seeing a lot of off the shoulder sleeves and straps so I decided on these training videos.
How to add an off the shoulder sleeve
How to add a detachable off the shoulder sleeve
Also, I have a whole symposium on off the shoulder sleeves. You can view the symposium here.
